Wow your guests this holiday with these simple yet effective styling tips for colourful and quirky Easter decor. Smiles guaranteed!
You’ve stocked up on chocolate eggs, bulk ordered the yellow fuzzy chicks and dusted off the Easter Tree. Now it’s time to decorate with maximum impact, here’s how:
1. Bring the outside in
Spring is yours for the taking, so hot-foot it outside and raid Mother Nature’s larder.
Forage the garden or woods for spring flowers like Daffodils, Tulips and Hyacinth.
Combine three bunches for a colourful contrast and place in two vases or little pots across a dining table.
Grab blossom and twigs from nearby trees and use them for a statement centre piece.
Place your creations in areas of your home you frequent the most, where having something striking can be fully enjoyed.
2. Mix traditional with Kitsch
Eggs are the zenith of Easter symbolism. Display them with a twist for smiles and fun.
Clusters of eggs dotted around, real or chocolate, look pretty in little bowls or pots (a challenge to not scoff the lot in one sitting!)
Put real eggs in a wooden egg box or straw-filled bowl and decorate with some little chicks or super cute fried egg ribbon from Zazzle.
Use jelly fried egg sweets and dot them around the table for added colour and edible Kitsch.
Other fun egg motifs can be found on napkins, bunting, tea towels and crockery - a great way to introduce some kitsch to the table. Amazon has some fun stuff to choose from.
3. Get baking (or faking!)
The sight of homemade goods will instantly make guests feel welcome.
Quickly mix together cornflakes and melted chocolate and top with mini eggs, et voila!
Feeling bold? Make an Easter Simnel cake - a real crowd-pleaser!
Baking not your thing? No problem! Glam up shop-bought goodies by adding a little topper. Try Amazon or Cakecraftshop for a great selection.
Arrange your Easter treats on cake stands or under a glass cloche for maximum allure.
4. Create A Quirky and Colourful Table
Your table is the centre of your Easter celebrations - make it sing!
A little plant pot filled with real carrots not only looks quirky, but guests can munch away in between courses.
Use some fake grass to run down the centre of your table to emulate a Spring lawn. Amazon do a lovely table runner.
Dot the table with chocolate bunnies, eggs, rabbit figurines and Easter-inspired ornaments.
Try and use a Spring-hued colour theme with your glassware, china, napkins and vases.
5. Embrace the Easter Bunny
Give this little fella a firm place in your Easter celebrations.
Explore some “grown-up”options. Layered Lounge have some lovely figurines and Homesense has a good selection too.
Show your fun side with an Easter Bunny print on napkins, place mats or tea towels.
If you’re hosting children, use bunnies to make their place setting extra cute (I chopped up a string of bunny bunting to make individual place settings, which the children can then play with while they await their food).
Molly Meg do some fab Easter Bunny decorations for children, including a Bunny Piñata, Easter Bunny table crackers and Bunny Confetti. Of course you can never go wrong with a trip to Flying Tiger either.
Sending all good wishes for a fun and fabulous Easter!
